Joel Lenius is the Owner and Managing Director of Skate to Excel Inc., the Technical Director for Hockey Edmonton, Program Director for the Edmonton Junior Oilers, and Head Coach of the U18 AAA Junior Oilers White team. As a Hockey Canada NCCP High Performance 1 Coach, NCCP Certified and Licensed Master Skills Coach, and trained NCCP Master Coach Developer, Joel brings a wealth of expertise to his roles.

Joel has provided skills coaching for organizations like the Edmonton Oilers, Hockey Canada National Women’s Program, Team Alberta, and various universities and hockey associations across Western Canada. Skate to Excel Inc. specializes in individual, small group, and full-class instruction for AAA, junior, post-secondary, professional, and NHL athletes, emphasizing innovative and progressive skill development.

With a playing career spanning the OPJHL, U Sports, and European professional leagues, Joel transitioned into coaching and development as the Manager and Director of Programs at National Training Rinks in Richmond Hill, Ontario. He has also served as Skate Canada’s National Power Skating Senior Coordinator, where he developed the CanPowerSkate program.

A passionate educator, Joel teaches NCCP clinics, speaks at conferences, and writes skill development articles. He is currently authoring a book on skating development and has contributed to high-performance initiatives such as FXH, the Western Flyers Development Program, and numerous programs for Hockey Canada, Hockey Alberta, and international hockey federations.
